Individual Counselling

While it might feel overwhelming and intimidating, beginning this journey is the first and hardest step to understanding and owning your personal story to honor your past, show compassion to your present, and believe in your future.

My philosophy is grounded in being a lifelong learner, which in this work means I am constantly adapting to the needs of each individual I serve in order to meet you where you are in your journey. I do not believe that people are only the sum of symptoms they are experiencing, therefore I practice from a strengths-based, trauma informed lens with a focus on holistic practice, which views you as a part of the complex environment in which you are living.

Much of my therapeutic approaches are based in the Cognitive Behavioral Model to best achieve balance between thoughts, feelings and behaviors. I draw on a range of perspectives in order to achieve results for your unique and individual needs including Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Attachment-Based theories.

I am a Registered Social Worker through the Alberta College of Social Workers. I have been lucky enough to have experienced working in mental health within an array of settings within the hospital, live-in residential treatment programs and in community based not-for-profit organizations for almost 10 years. My area of specialty is working with anxiety, depression, self-esteem/self-worth, complex attachment, trauma, and parent-child relationship difficulties for adolescents, adults, and families.

It is my belief that there is a therapist out there for everyone, so I welcome further discussion about your individual needs to ensure you receive services from someone that helps you feel safe and connected with to help you reach your desired goals.

As a traveler of many roads, I have encountered several human beings, each a story with their own aspirations, tribulations, memories and life philosophies. My goal is to walk alongside you in trusting your inner knowing and intuition, learning how to connect with yourself before others and gaining clarity on the tools you already have. I understand that seeking therapy can be one of the most difficult decisions in your life but the outcome can change the lens in which you experience the world. With over 12 years of experience in the field of social work, I have expertise in working with individuals, adolescents, couples, families, BIPOC folks and those experiencing chronic pain.

I use mindfulness-based practice to blend the synergy between the distraction that often consumes our everyday lives and how we wish to authentically show up in the world for ourselves and those around us. My training in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Solution-Focused Therapy and Functional Family Therapy allows me to provide flexible and responsive support to meet your unique therapeutic needs. I am looking forward to being part of your journey of finding love, grace, kindness and strength from within.

I grew up on the west coast and have called Calgary home since 2017. My approach is compassionate, honest, collaborative, and direct. Building an authentic therapeutic relationship with my clients is the foundation of my work, and it is a privilege to do so.

I believe in creating a collaborative relationship with clients, who are the experts in their own lives. It is important to me to create a safe and welcoming environment where clients feel heard, valued, and respected. It is an immense privilege to enter the stories of other people’s lives and I feel deeply honored to do so. Previous clients have described me as down-to-earth, warm, and empathetic.

It is important for me to tailor treatment and interventions specific to each client’s individual needs, and so wholehearted listening and understanding to each unique story, experience, and situation is vital. Diverse experience within Alberta and Newfoundland had allowed me to utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities and intervention, based on a mutual understanding of client goals. I ensure treatment is trauma-informed and focused by using best practice standards.

I have additional training in evidence-based treatment modalities; including, Gottman Methods Couples Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy and utilize these within the context of a helpful therapeutic relationship.

I have always been fascinated by how people live their lives and interact with others. My belief is that previous experiences and relationships have shaped how we live our lives, and sometimes that works out easily, and other times that’s very difficult for us.

I believe in offering my honest self, in a supportive and caring way. I am honoured to be invited to hear your story to help create positive change. I truly care for all my clients and work hard to help you feel better. It is most important to me that those seeking therapy feel safe, heard, and understood. Being vulnerable is not easy and having a therapist that is non-judgemental and open is absolutely necessary. My goal is to help you find what the root of the issue is. I specialize in working through relational and childhood trauma, attachment and relationship difficulties, anxiety, parenting and family conflict, boundary difficulties and self-esteem. The modalities I use are Gottman Method (for couples), Attachment-Based models, CBT, and DBT primarily.
